Bamford Lands in Hong Kong
Bamford, the British wellness and lifestyle brand founded by Lady Bamford, is taking bold steps to expand its presence in Hong Kong. Previously available only in Cathay Pacific’s First and Business Class cabins and lounges, The Upper House and curated clean beauty shop 10/10 HOPE, the brand is now bringing its sustainably minded and beautifully considered products to the heart of the city.
Officially opening today on St. Francis Yard in Star Street Precinct, Wan Chai, the new Bamford store aims to inspire Hong Kong residents and visitors to be more connected to themselves, to others and to the environment by providing a sanctuary for those seeking respite from the fast-paced city life. In addition to featuring the brand’s bath & body, natural skincare, home fragrance and clothing collections, the space will provide nurturing experiences with its serene treatment room dedicated to a suite of signature facial and body treatments.
“Bamford’s holistic approach to well-being has been at the heart of our partnership which began in 2019” said Bernard Mills, Head of Dining & Hospitality at Cathay Pacific. “Our shared values regarding quality, care and sustainability have enabled us to provide our First and Business customers with one of the most luxurious sleep and wellness experiences in the sky and in our lounges. We are pleased to know that Bamford will open a store here in Hong Kong so that our global travellers and local residents alike can experience and enjoy the brand and the wellness benefits of its sustainable skincare, bodycare, lifestyle products and treatments.”
A conscious approach to life
Bamford was founded in 2005 out of a belief that we need to live consciously and respect nature’s resources. From its foundations offering natural, organic beauty products as well as sustainably produced garments and items for the home, Bamford has grown into a well-being brand offering beautiful, effective and ethical products in stores and across its spas.
Bamford is part of the Bamford Collection, a group of consciously-minded lifestyle brands committed to nourishing and nurturing people and the planet. The original venture, Daylesford Organic, was launched by Lady Bamford on her family estate in 2002 out of a simple passion for real food and a desire to feed her children better, and has since grown to become one of the most sustainable farms and food retailers in the UK. Daylesford Stays is the group’s hospitality division, a collection of traditional Cotswold-stone cottages and modern British Inns, as well as existing pubs The Wild Rabbit at Kingham, The Fox at Oddington, The Bell at Charlbury and The Three Horseshoes at Asthall.
Both Bamford and Daylesford Organic became B Corp certified in 2023, recognising them as leaders in the global movement for an inclusive, equitable and regenerative economy. Obtaining B Corp certification was not only a landmark moment for Lady Bamford, whose steadfast commitment has always been to protect and work with nature rather than against it, but also a validation of the two brands’ daily efforts to be a positive force for change.
“Everything we do at Bamford is born out of my belief that we need to live more consciously: to slow our pace, be mindful of our footprint and take care of the earth that provides for us. In doing so we nourish and nurture our own well-being too. Now, as we are witnessing a growing demand for wellness and sustainable luxury throughout Asia, I am thrilled to be able to share not only our beautifully considered products and treatments but also this holistic approach to life with the people of Hong Kong. Our new store is a space to relax, unwind and achieve harmony, health and happiness in body, mind and spirit,” said founder Lady Bamford.
In addition to its partnership with Cathay Pacific, Bamford has collaborated with a number of the world’s top hotels and leading retail brands over the last two decades, such as The Upper House in Hong Kong and Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Antibes, France, as well as iconic British store Fortnum & Mason. Globally, Bamford Wellness Spas have also received numerous accolades, including the Good Spa Guide’s Best New Spa in the UK, and the World Spa Awards’ Best Hotel Spa in Florida and Best Resort Spa in Hawaii. In Hong Kong, Bamford partners with 10/10 HOPE through initiatives that promote an organic, sustainable lifestyle. Combining Bamford’s expertise in self-care with 10/10 HOPE's mission to promote an overall healthy, balanced lifestyle, the aim is to create a positive impact on one’s physical and mental well-being.
New wellness destination located in Wan Chai’s Star Street Precinct
Featured highlights at the new Hong Kong store include the signature Geranium collection, reflecting Lady Bamford’s lifelong love of the earthy and uplifting botanical, as demonstrated by the more than 150 varieties of geranium in her personal greenhouse. A balancing leaf, geranium is known to promote calmness and harmony in the body and mind. From shampoo, conditioner, bath oil, shower cream, hand and body wash to the newly launched candle and diffuser, each product is gently fragranced with an entirely natural essential oil blend of geranium, eucalyptus, peppermint and lavender.
Those seeking a restful night’s sleep can turn to the B Silent collection designed to support rest and recuperation with a calming blend of frankincense, lavender and marjoram essential oils. The wide range of products includes the best-selling night-time pillow mist featured in Cathay Pacific’s first-class turndown service.
To celebrate the opening of the first Hong Kong store, Bamford introduces its expanded home fragrance collection, inspired by two popular body care lines. Customers are invited to unwind with the new Incense Sticks, Candles, and Diffusers from the brand’s signature Geranium and B Silent collections, available exclusively at the Wan Chai flagship store.
In honor of its upcoming 20th anniversary, Bamford has incorporated a dedicated treatment room into its Hong Kong store. The treatment room brings Bamford’s organic and natural products to life with a number of holistic therapies to rejuvenate body and mind. Some of the most popular treatments on offer include the Ultimate Signature Treatment, a fully immersive massage designed to reduce inflammation and help remove toxins from the body, and the Ultimate Signature Facial. Bamford has also created a series of highly regarded rituals such as the B Silent Treatment devoted to preparing the body for sound, restful sleep.
In addition to offering special events and benefits to Cathay members and guests of The Upper House, Bamford aims to promote the importance of wellness among the local community. It continues to collaborate with The Upper House on a series of events, including a recent fireside chat with George Bamford in September 2024 to reveal the world of Bamford and its men’s grooming range essentials, developed in partnership with Lady Bamford.
