Lights, camera, olfaction

In celebration of the festive season, Aesop Hong Kong presents a line-up of cinematic events inspired by this year’s Gift Kits collection. Beginning 28 October, select stores will feature shimmering displays that reenact scenes from the brand’s atmospheric short film ‘The Soap Service’—which debuts alongside the Gift Kits launch—depicting moments of gift-giving that merge the worlds of scent and celluloid.

To enhance this narrative, Aesop is collaborating with longtime partner Hong Kong Asia Film Festival to host 11 screenings of local and Asian films from 17 October to 10 November. 'The Soap Service’ will serve as a prelude to each screening, and a designated Aesop fragrance will subtly infuse the space to heighten the sensory experience.

On 19 October, following a screening of ‘Time to Be Strong’—which portrays three retired K-pop singers on a reflective journey to Jeju Island—the new Aesop Langham will hold a film-sharing session, with film critic and columnist Patrick Suen guiding the afternoon’s discussion.
To conclude the series, an outdoor movie screening of the Bhutanese drama ‘The Monk and the Gun’ will take place at Tai Kwun’s Laundry Steps on 2 November. Directed by Oscar-nominee Payo Choyning Dorji, the political satire transports viewers through the lush landscapes of Bhutan, a visual experience accompanied by the fresh scent of Virēre Eau de Parfum, and the soft crunch of gourmet popcorn. Tickets to the outdoor film will be available to those who have purchased a cinema- inspired Gift Kit at any Aesop store.

From the screen to the store, these cinematic encounters invite guests to explore the art of gift-giving through the lens of scent, storytelling and community.
